Macron and Le Pen neck and neck

This Friday morning, the BVA institute for RTL gave Marine Le Pen 23%, two points more than a week earlier. With Emmanuel Macron posting 26% (-1 pt), the gap therefore falls to 3 points, while at the same time, Jean-Luc Mélenchon also gained 2 units, to point to 17.5%.

Even more pessimistic for the outgoing president: the Elabe Opinion 2022 poll for BFM TV unveiled that same day. According to the institute, the gap in the first round between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen would be only one point. The outgoing president would point to 26%, against 25% for the RN candidate. The latter gained as many points (+2) as the former Minister of the Economy lost.

Text messages from the Zemmour team to the French

Many French people received this Friday, April 8 a text message from Eric Zemmour’s campaign team promoting the Qotmii application survey. A poll that sends the Reconquest candidate to the second round. Very different from Ifop, Odoxa or Ipsos type institutes, this application, based on artificial intelligence, prides itself on measuring the “buzz” of candidates on social networks. “CONFIDENTIAL, QOTMI poll of April 8, Zemmour and Macron in the 2nd round”, is it written in particular.

These text messages from Zemmour are mostly an outright lie:

1. There is nothing confidential
2. QOTMII is an app that measures “buzz” on the Web
3. This is not a poll at all
4. The methodology is not explained

Macron and Le Pen’s “racist program”

On the eve of the end of the presidential campaign, Emmanuel Macron lent himself to an exchange with readers of the Parisian Thursday. He was notably questioned about the program of one of his main candidates, Marine Le Pen. The candidate felt that “the fundamentals” of the RN candidate’s program “have not changed”: “It is a racist program, which aims to split society and is very brutal. There is a strategy very clear cover-up of what is brutal in this program,” he explained.

Pécresse does not give voting instructions

Just before Sunday’s first round, LR candidate Valérie Pécresse announced that she would give “no instructions” to vote for the second round, which could oppose Emmanuel Macron to Marine Le Pen according to opinion polls. Below the 10% mark, neck and neck with her far-right rival Eric Zemmour, she could have said nothing, sending a possible voting instruction to the evening of the first round. “I will say who I am voting for, but no instructions,” said Ms. Pécresse, whose electorate is very courted by the far right but also by the outgoing president. “I will say clearly what my vote will be and I will say the path that I think is good for France”, then specified the candidate LR on Twitter, without going back on her remarks.

I want the French to place me in the second round. Let them not be fooled by any right-wing forgers. If this were not the case, as I have always done, I will clearly say what my vote will be and I will say the path that I think is the best for France.

Taubira calls to vote Mélenchon

The former Keeper of the Seals and a time candidate called on Friday to vote Jean-Luc Mélenchon for the presidential election to “bar the road” to the far right, whose “accession to power” is in his eyes “a risk which we cannot resolve”. With Marine Le Pen in a position to qualify for the second round, followed by a possible close duel against Emmanuel Macron, “the prospect becomes plausible” of the far right coming to power, explains Christiane Taubira. To eliminate him “from the first round”, “the left candidate in a position to do so is today Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
