Microsoft promotes fair and inclusive AI. With this in mind, Microsoft created in 2018 in partnership with the social and solidarity company Simplon.co an alternative school: the Microsoft AI School By Simplon. On March 16, Microsoft France and Simplon inaugurated their 34th school, operated by the CCI Côtes d’Armor, in Lannion. The project, supported by the Region and Pôle Emploi, brings together 9 partner companies: Crédit Agricole Côtes d’Armor, Eco counter, Hoali, Labocea, Nokia, Orange, Saooti, SF2I, Voxygen, and aims to “meeting the needs for new skills, with a desire for diversity and inclusion”.

Charles Calestroupat, Microsoft France Public Sector Entity Director, says:

Registering innovation within the Brittany region
To support the digital transformation of public and private organizations in the region, Microsoft has surrounded itself with an ecosystem of 10,500 partners, start-ups, associations and ISVs. It thus benefited from the support of the main local actors.
Eric Bothorel, MP for Côtes-d’Armor, declares:
” For a long time artificial intelligence was a promise, a technological challenge. This is now a reality, and there are many operational variations, in health (medical imaging, prevention, early diagnosis) or industrial. And we are only at the beginning. New professions will appear tomorrow, like the 200,000 job creations within the digital sector for the next 3 years, everywhere in France. These jobs must be accessible to as many people as possible, wherever they live. This is why I wanted, in conjunction with the valuable expertise of the Technopole Anticipa, from the outset, to support and accompany the project to set up an IA Microsoft by Simplon school in Lannion. I am delighted that today this project is coming to fruition. Welcome to Microsoft and Simplon, good luck to all future learners, and my wishes of success to the Trégor companies that invest. »
Louis Chesnais-Girard, President of the Brittany Region, adds:
” After Rennes and Brest, a new AI school is opening in Lannion. Training accessible without the requirement of a diploma allowing women and men, whatever their personal background, to access the professions of artificial intelligence. The Region is happy to support this innovative action for more jobs with good jobs in a sector with a future in Brittany. »
An AI sector accessible to all
The 18 students in this first promotion came from a wide variety of backgrounds. Pôle emploi relied on the Method of Recruitment by Simulation (MRS), based on the skills necessary to occupy a job and not on diplomas or experience as it usually does. Danièle Maillot, Director of Pôle Emploi Côtes d’Armor, says:
” Digital transformation is an essential factor of competitiveness for a majority of companies in all sectors. Initially reserved for engineers and bac+5, digital positions are for many emerging and open today to more profiles from various backgrounds. The role of Pôle emploi is to make the system known to job seekers in order to meet the skills needs of companies. There is an ethical and responsible challenge in developing the diversity of profiles that will create the services and applications of tomorrow. »
Today, 84.4% of IA School learners have found a positive outlet for their training, whether it is a permanent contract, a fixed-term contract, a business creation project or a return to studies. . Convinced that the development of digital skills in companies is a major challenge, Microsoft France is continuing to open its schools throughout the national territory to meet the needs of local companies. Since 2018, more than 700 learners have been trained through programs operated with Simplon.
The objective is to train nearly 1,000 learners by the end of 2022 to respond to job opportunities generated by Artificial Intelligence.
