On April 14, 2022, Patrice Caine, Chairman and CEO of Thales, and Marc Darmon, Deputy CEO and Chairman of the Strategic Sector Committee (CSF) Security Industries, welcomed the arrival of the Group’s teams on campus. Cyber, in the presence of Michel Van den Berghe, President of Campus Cyber.
Showcase of know-how in cybersecurity, located in La Défense, the Cyber Campus was inaugurated on February 15 with the aim of bringing together talents in the field of cybersecurity and creating synergies within the cyber ecosystem composed public and private actors.
The arrival of Thales, the first group to join the campus, illustrates the commitment of the world leader in high technologies and deep tech for a wider sharing of cyber knowledge and better control of digital risk.
About sixty Thales employees, engineers, consultants and cybersecurity project managers, have now been based in the Cyber Campus since April 2022. On the occasion of their arrival, Patrice Caine underlined his role as a catalyst for international cyber excellence in a context of globalization and a sharp increase in threats.
Thales teams will soon be joined by teams from public and private structures specializing in this field. Thales provides Campus Cyber members with its collaborative platform in the cloud, the first “Restricted Diffusion” approved, Cybels Hub, comprising Cryptobox (document management and sharing) and Citadel Team (screen sharing).
This project, initiated by the State, is consistent with the structuring programs of the CSF Security Industries dedicated to cybersecurity and IoT security, working for digital trust. This sector is driven by a strong dynamic of innovation mobilizing skills in artificial intelligence in cryptography and skills from various sectors such as IT, telecoms or defence.
The realization of this project comes at the very time when we are seeing an upsurge in cyberattacks in the world, thanks to the acceleration of the digitalization of societies operated during the health crisis. Administrations, companies of all sizes and operators of vital importance are facing an explosion in the number of attacks which, between 2019 and 2020, have quadrupled. Among them, ransomware is one of the recurring methods to which is added cyber espionage. The professionalization of cybercriminals associated with their imperative of profitability must now alert and mobilize security players to contribute to better training of future talents and to the constitution of a robust ecosystem to fight against these threats.
“Thales is one of the very first companies to believe in and support this Cyber Campus project. We are very proud to welcome and host one of the European leaders in cyber. » Michel Van Den Berghe, President of Campus Cyber.
“Thales is reaffirming its commitment to an international cybersecurity center of excellence to pool its know-how and better counter the proliferation of threats. By joining this initiative, Thales brings its expertise to this collaboration platform and intends to contribute to awareness-raising and training projects on cybersecurity issues, which society so badly needs.” Patrice Caine, Chairman and CEO of Thales.
With more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, Thales is a major supplier of services and systems contributing to the sovereignty of its customers.
The Group oversees the cybersecurity of the critical information systems of more than 130 major clients, in particular through its six cybersecurity operational centers (SOC) located around the world (Canada, France, Hong Kong, Netherlands, United Kingdom , Morocco) and guaranteeing detection, analysis of attacks and their response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
