Organized by the National Ports Agency (ANP) and the National Single Window PortNet in partnership with the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, the Port Hackathon dedicated to innovation in the port sector in Morocco was open to anyone , startup, company, school or university wishing to offer innovative solutions in response to major port challenges while creating creative solutions, and adapted to the needs of Moroccan port customers.

During the final phase of this Hackathon, 46 teams presented projects that met the challenges of this 100% online international innovation competition.

The Smart Port Challenge 2022 ended with the announcement of 4 four winning teams.

Indeed, in response to the challenge of reducing waiting times for ships in the harbor, the Siliconesignale Technologies team proposed the Iport Smart Yards solution which allows the launch of predictive models on the availability of docks and consequently offers ships on approach, adjusting their speed and thus reducing both their energy bill and their waiting time in the harbor. In response to the challenge of controlling the level of air, water and sediment pollution in ports, the Architect-designer Mr Abdessamad ELAICHATI proposed the PORT-LAB system solution, it is a mobile laboratory in the form of a container that embeds the latest cutting-edge technologies for pollution control in ports. : Monitoring and planning of integrated port resources”, this is a complete digital solution for monitoring and planning of port resources allowing traffic optimization in order to reduce truck traffic congestion at the port of Casablanca.

And finally in response to the challenge of facilitating business processes, the wabtech team, an American company, proposed the Cargo Dwell & Optimization solution A web-based solution that is based on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics to improve processing of containerized imports and exports in order to reduce the uncertainty of the dwell time, improve prediction, synchronization between administrative procedures and port logistics and traceability of operations.

During this closing ceremony, the DG of the ANP, Mrs. Nadia Laraki first congratulated the participants and the winners of this unique Hackathon on a national and international level in the port sector, then she addressed its warm thanks to all the partners, sponsors and experts who responded and who contributed to the organization and success of this event, which was very popular with students, engineers, startups and companies from Morocco and many countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and America.

She also thanked the 40 experts and scientists who led the various workshops, webinars and online conferences to support the participants throughout the Hackathon and who are available in Replay in English and French on the website

This second edition of the Port Hackathon is part of the “SMARTPORT INNOVATION” approach initiated by the ANP, A coordinated and concerted approach to the development of the national port sector to improve its performance, it constitutes a forward-looking, global and coherent framework. harmonious development of ports.

At the end of the ceremony, the National Ports Agency gave an appointment for the next edition of the “Smart Port Challenge” which will take place during the year 2023, stating that the port community is delighted to soon be able to testing some of the innovative ideas from this Hackathon in Moroccan ports.
