Artificial intelligence and entertainment to create business opportunities | The Echo of Laval

Bringing together key players in the entertainment and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystems, economic players from more than 50 companies, organizations, business people and Quebec entertainment and AI entrepreneurs are joining forces with the aim of forming the international E-AI community.

The launch event for this new international community will be held on June 14 and 15, in Montreal, at the Palais des Congrès. This first event aims to mobilize partners and members of the community for the creation of projects and the exploration of business opportunities.

No one can deny that artificial intelligence is pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology. Proof of this is the digital shift of many companies over the years to improve productivity, solve labor shortage problems, implement automated processes, manage mass data and face international competition.

“This new business-to-business (B2B) agent aims to generate and multiply business and creative opportunities between these two industries: alliances, collaborations, innovations, marketing, financing, etc. In addition, E-Al will serve as a unique showcase for research and the exchange of know-how”, specifies the press release from the new organization.

In recent months, the community has demonstrated unprecedented mobilization and enthusiasm around E-AI “, explains Stéphane Martel, its co-founder and executive producer. “ Local businesses must seize development opportunities now. We therefore wish to actively contribute to positioning Quebec as an international leader in the meeting of AI and entertainment. »

Among the entities that make up the group, we note leading techno-creative players such as Moment Factory, Behavior Interactive, Moov AI, The 7 Fingers, Ivado, Images and Technology, the Phi Center and the SAT, but also companies that one would imagine less involved in these circles, such as the National Bank, Montreal Convention Center and the law firm Lavery Lawyers.

Better collaborate

For Marie-Josée Corbeil, National Bank, both the entertainment industry and the AI industry will benefit from deepening such a union. ” Through the wealth of experience, expertise and diversity of its members and partners, E-Al will enable the two ecosystems to build bridges and foster collaborations to enrich the content of companies and make them more innovative. »

Professions and business models are changing, and the research community must imperatively get closer to companies, believes Brigitte Monneau, of Synthèse Pôle Image Québec. “ AI is shaking the ground beneath the feet of the entertainment industry. Ongoing dialogue between all players and the development of collaborations will be the key to the success of this profound transformation. »

For his part, Denys Lavigne, of Oasis Immersion, welcomes the establishment of a favorable context for exchanges between the two sectors. “ E-AI will help activate new avenues of innovation that will enrich our creative approaches “, he summarizes.

A historic event

In order to mark its birth, E-AI will present #EAI2022 on June 14 and 15. This first major public annual meeting will consist of conferences, round tables, networking and networking activities around possible solutions and applications. A thematic program that responds well to the issues will be presented in a hybrid format (in person and online) at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, which also acts as co-producer and co-director of the event.
