Version 1.0.0 of eFootball 2022 will arrive on April 14

While the last real version of ESP dated back to 2020, Konami focused for two years on the development of eFootball 2022, its free-to-play football game. This one received a devastating reception, the title was full of bugs of all kinds and in a state very far from the expectations of the players, and even far from the level of its predecessor. The publisher has decided to refund pack purchases to players by asking everyone to wait for an update in the spring. And good news, version 1.0.0 of eFootball 2022 will be there on April 14!

The Holy Grail finally available?

The developers indicate that this version 1.0 allows them to have a game of the expected quality. Konami also indicates that it has been able to achieve all of these improvements thanks to player feedback and indicates that there will be others in the future. Let’s take a look at these changes:

Defense overhaul

To make the defense more accessible, the button mapping will be revised during the update. The developers have also included a shoulder charge to attempt to recover the ball. It will also be possible to put pressure on the ball carrier, or to stick to the movement of the attacker. A touch will also allow to ask for help from a teammate to put pressure on the opponent, the rest of the team getting in place to cut the trajectories of possible passes.

More intuitive passes

Passing will now be faster, which was one of the big downsides of the game when it was originally released. This was all the more necessary in view of the improvements in the defense. A new mechanic will also influence the speed of the ball according to the rebounds, which will have an impact in particular on the passes without control. This should greatly change the rhythm of ball transmissions according to the developers. The AI also had some issues and got an overhaul on:

  • Decisions on the target of the pass
  • Receipt of passes
  • The reaction after the reception

From Spectacular passes will also be there for special trajectories.

Shooting and dribbling

The speed of the shots has been increased for more realism. Adjusted shots on target ratio to match match conditions. Hit effects have also been implemented. To come to this, it will be necessary to go through the dribbles. It will be easier to control the ball with the left stick while the dashes will be better managed. It will also be easier to perform feints.

The online mode will also be improved with technical changes in their installation.

“Creative Team” mode becomes “Dream Team”

This game mode which allows you to create your own team will be added in the future update under the name of DreamTeam. You will have to choose your players, your managers before changing them to adapt them to your style of play. It will thus be possible to have a totally personalized team. Players in this mode will be able to compete against each other in online matches.

It remains to be seen whether these changes will be enough to convince players to give the game another chance six months after its release. Nothing is less certain, while there are always more competitors between Fifa and the future free-to-play UFL.
