This is an important cultural and scientific date in Toulouse. Saturday June 25, 2022, the Cité de l’espace celebrates its 25th anniversary and invites the public to come and celebrate this anniversary around a free and unique programminglooking to the future.

The most important site in Europe in terms of disseminating space and astronomical culture to the general public, the Cité de l’Espace invites all of its audiences for a festive and free day.

Exhibition, workshops

Thus, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., the public will be able to take advantage of the permanent offer of the Cité de l’Espace – exhibitions, films, workshops – and in particular discover the brand new immersive animation “Martian Land, the Rovers enter the scene! “.

From 4 p.m., many events will punctuate this anniversary to arouse the curiosity of young and old alike, including duo workshops between Cité de l’Espace organizers and scientists.

A Spacebus and quizzes

For instance, the Spacebus will be a real traveling tool to allow young people and the general public to discover space and its applications in our daily lives. The day will be marked by a series of quizzes on astronomy, space, artificial intelligence…

Behind the Ariane 5 rocket, the Safari GPS will allow you to learn the principles of localization and go in search of animals in the Cité de l’espace from their GPS coordinates. It is for 8-12 year olds. The youngest will also be able to build their own satellite, their first air rocket from materials or their own space object.

Discovery of major space projects

From the age of 10, the Educ’Sat animation will revolve around a Pleiades-type model. The public will discover how the different parts of a satellite work (gyroscopes, solar panels, measuring instruments, antennas, wiring, etc.).

At the Children’s Corner, it will be coloring and drawing for the small artistic make-up stands, accompanied by strolls of balloon sculpture and ephemeral tattoos.
Then from 8 p.m., the public will meet a set of guests who will take them into the future to discover major space projects and the challenges of the 21st century.e century that the place will have to take up.

Among these guests: Claudie Haignere, astronaut, godmother of the Cité de l’espace and other personalities from the space world, scientists, researchers and artists inspired by this subject.
