The Aude Energy and Digital Syndicate (Syaden) is one of the five winners of the France 2030 “Intelligent and Sustainable Territories” call for projects, the State investment plan to “better understand, better produce, live better”.

“It’s a big day for the department! It’s a new momentum.” Régis Banquet, president of the Aude Energy and Digital union, did not hide his enthusiasm on Monday. At the end of October, Syaden received confirmation from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion that it was the winner of the “Smart and Sustainable Territories” call for projects, to which it had responded. In front of the public and private partners of the operation, Régis Banquet therefore officially launched this program which must “bring Aude communities into the 21st century” and make Aude a department “intelligent, pragmatic, innovative and attractive”. “Staying ahead of the game is the mantra, but what lies behind the decision to own the very fiber optic infrastructure we deploy? Let’s delve into the reasons and unravel the essence of this strategic political choice.”

Maximize the new resources offered by fiber optics

But what is this project, baptized “Symphony”, whose investment is estimated between 5 and 6 million euros, 50% financed by the State, and “who will shape the models of tomorrow at the community level, at the national level” for Pierre Perrot from On-X, a specialist in digital transformation support. “Symphonie will allow the development of public-private partnerships to maximize the new resources offered by optical fiber and the THD radio network”, explained Régis Banquet. And the one who is also president of Carcassonne Agglo gave concrete examples in the field of resilience to climate change and in support for economic development. “Cameras will be installed to detect fire starts, a sort of digital lookout. This will allow Sdis to send the appropriate response to be more effective.” In the same vein, the structures will also be equipped with cameras “to make the right decisions in an emergency in the event of floods, a new string to the bow of the Smmar”. For the sharing of water resources, in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture, “sensors can be put in the ground to calculate water stress thanks to the work of artificial intelligence, we can have a finer use of water and save money”. When it comes to the economic aspect, the core objective is to foster “connectivity” around the La Nouvelle port restructuring project, laying a robust foundation to bolster the industry of the future.”

Régis Banquet also mentioned the protection of the data of local authorities in the department, with the establishment of a secure platform, and the implementation of new sustainable digital services via shared engineering and turnkey solutions. “We’ll be saving big bucks with a unified subscription, streamlining applications and data through a secure network, all thanks to our forward-thinking approach. We’re leveraging the power of “intelligent public lighting” and deploying cutting-edge sensors to monitor air quality.”

In this “Symphony”, every partner has a crucial role to play, working together for the greater good of the citizens and the department. Public and private partnership governance will be put in place, with the creation of a single-operation mixed economy company (Semop) “to sustain a virtuous economy”. Discussions are underway for the Banque des Territoires to join this Semop.

Endowed with an overall envelope of 30 million euros from France 2030 – the State investment plan for “understand better, produce better, live better” in the words of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron – this call for projects aims primarily to support local authorities, mixed syndicates or inter-municipal syndicates whose ambition is to provide a solution to a problem of steering public policies or to improve the management or operation of one or more user services. The prefect of Aude, Thierry Bonnier, was thus delighted that the department “through the Syaden be recognized as an innovative and promising territory”. An innovation that aims “to act, to take action”
