Earlier this year, Honda took a significant step towards a more sustainable automotive future by launching the e:NS1 and e:NP1 electric SUVs. According to the manufacturer, the concept was built by “a team of young Chinese elites who are at the forefront of global electrification and smart technologies and who know the needs of Chinese consumers”. Styling-wise, it looks like an evolution of the e:N Coupe’s curated features such as angular LED light units and illuminated badging. Honda hasn’t announced the vehicle’s dimensions, but we suspect its production version could be a potential rival to vehicles like the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal and Toyota bZ3 only in China. The design is very angular, with sharp edges on which the lights take place. The profile is nonetheless stunning, combining the slightly raised look of an SUV with the long, flat hood and roofline of a large sedan.
If you find that the interiors of Tesla and other modern electric sedans are very refined, then you will be served! Inside, the dashboard features an ultra-minimalist, almost cartoonish layout, with a hidden screen and touch controls paired with a head-up display. Other “highlights” include the rectangle-shaped steering wheel, floating center tunnel and white textured upholstery covering most areas of the dashboard, doors and seats. The futuristic e:N operating system serves as the centerpiece of the concept, showcasing Honda’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation in the automotive realm. Building on this foundation, Honda has exciting plans in store for its infotainment system. In the spring of 2023, a new generation of the Honda Connect infotainment system will be unveiled, and it is set to feature artificial intelligence.

The concept is based on the front-wheel drive “e:N Architecture F”, which is one of Honda’s dedicated electric vehicle platforms that will underpin various production models in the future. There is no information yet on the power of the front-mounted electric motor or the capacity of the battery on the ground which is visible on the graphs. Honda claims that the chassis configuration combines “comfort” and “driving pleasure” by giving precise information to the driver. That is.

The eN:2 is equipped with the latest Honda Sensing 360 ADAS suite which will be fitted to the new CR-V and Breeze SUVs before ending up across the entire Honda lineup by 2030. The hardware configuration of the vehicle boasts cutting-edge features, designed to enhance safety and situational awareness. Among its impressive components are a forward-facing camera positioned at the front of the vehicle, providing a comprehensive view of the road ahead. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with five-millimeter-wave radars that cover the entire 360-degree angle around the vehicle, offering improved range and enhanced accuracy in detecting objects and obstacles in the surroundings. The ADAS suite includes systems such as the “Traveling Prophet” which warns drivers of approaching vehicles at intersections with limited visibility. Under certain conditions, it can change lanes autonomously on the highway and automatically reduce speed when cornering.

The Honda e:N2 Concept is presented at the China International Import Export in Shanghai. Half-SUV half-sedan, it foreshadows a very angular and futuristic design. It is possible that an evolution of this concept will be among the 10 new Honda-branded electric vehicles that will be unveiled by 2027.
