On the occasion of its annual GTC conference, which was held from September 19 to 22, 2022, Nvidia took advantage of its flagship event to announce the arrival of new products related to robotics. Including the star of the show: Jetson Orin Nano. As usual, Nvidia unveiled its new range of products and services during its GPU Technology Conference (GTC). This time around, the firm has placed particular emphasis on different Technological innovations for robotics developers. On the program: Isaac Sim, the nano version of Jetson Orin, and IGX.

Nvidia Isaac Sim: soon available in the cloud

Last June, we discovered the open beta version of the simulation platform for scalable robotics, a code-named Isaac Sim. It is a simulation application built on the Omniverse platform. This allows the import of a large number of objects, such as CAD files. His goal? Allow to generate a photorealistic virtual environment indistinguishable from the real world. The ultimate goal is to guarantee the development and management of robots based on artificial intelligence.

And good news, the 800,000 early adopters of the solution will very soon be able to take advantage of the final version of Isaac Sim in the cloud. Of course, all developers and researchers will also be able to train and optimize their AI robots for a range of use cases.

A nano version of the Jetson Orin Nano system chip

Nvidia also took advantage of its GTC to publicize the new member within its portfolio of Jetson system modules. It is Jetson Orin Nano. With performance up to 80 times higher than that of the Jetson AGX, it features six 64-bit cores Arm Cortex-A78AE with Armv8.2 architecture. It also incorporates a graphics unit (GPU) with Ampere microarchitecture. It also features video encoding and decoding engines. Not to mention its deep learning and advanced artificial vision accelerators.

Note that Jetson Orin Nano is capable of providing power A up to 40 teleoperations per second (Tops). It will thus be able to cover the needs of a wide range of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) applications at the Edge of AI edge.

The IGX platform for robotics or medical solutions

Another star of this new edition: IGX. It’s about a platform for high-precision AI intended for manufacturing and logistics applications. Fully dedicated to highly regulated environments like factories, warehouses, clinics, and hospitals, IG is on a mission to provide an extra layer of security and better low-latency AI performance. The line includes IGX Orin, an AI chip that enables the prototyping and testing of new solutions. Especially for autonomous industrial machines and medical devices.
