Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 launched
$10 / $50 per 1M tokens, the same as Fable 5. Cache reads cost $0.25, or 0.025x the input price instead of the usual 0.1x. Mythos 5.1 has limited availability.
Claude Sonnet 5 keeps $2 / $10; planned increase cancelled
The introductory price became the standard price. The increase to $3 / $15 scheduled for September 1, 2026 did not happen.
Claude Opus 4.1 retired
Requests to claude-opus-4-1-20250805 now return an error.
Claude Opus 5 launched at $5 / $25 per 1M tokens
1M-token context window, 128K max output, thinking on by default.
Claude Sonnet 5 launched at introductory $2 / $10
1M-token context window and 128K max output tokens.
Billing rules that change the price
- Prompt caching: a 5-minute cache write costs 1.25x the input price, a 1-hour write costs 2x, and a cache hit costs 0.1x. On Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 a cache hit costs 0.025x.
- Message Batches API: 50% off input and output.
- Fast mode on Opus 5 and Opus 4.8 costs $10 input and $50 output per 1M tokens.
- US-only inference on Claude 4.6 and later models is billed at 1.1x.
- Claude 4.6 and later models bill the full 1M-token context window at standard rates, with no long-context surcharge.
- Claude 4.7 and later models use a tokenizer that produces about 30% more tokens for the same text, so the same prompt costs more than the per-token price alone suggests.
- Sonnet 5's $2 / $10 introductory price is now the standard price. The increase to $3 / $15 that was planned for September 1, 2026 will not happen.
- Mythos 5.1 and Mythos 5 have limited availability. Mythos Preview is deprecated; Anthropic points users to Mythos 5.
- Retired and no longer available: Claude Opus 4.1, Opus 4, Sonnet 4 and Haiku 3.5.
